Soroptimist

Last night I spoke at the Wayne, NJ chapter of Soroptimist. It's an international group of women who work to fundriase and create awareness to the struggles of women internationally. One of their big pushes right now is the issue of domestic violence, which is a worldwide cause for concern. Many of the women I spoke to yesterday were retired women who belonged to the group to keep giving back to their community. As a result, they weren't so interested in this whole "Girls Fight Back" thing.

So I whipped out an idea that I've been wanting to test for awhile..."Seniors Fight Back!" Seriously, female senior citizens especially need to learn more about how to stay safe. Older women are often outliving their husbands, and may find themselves living alone for the first time after 50 years. They are also a bit more trusting, and are eager to help others. Sadly, this can sometimes lead to victimization in many forms. Just think about damage seniors can cause with a cane...SFB, coming soon.
